Positive greetings to my entire Positive thinking friends. It just so happens that this news letter is about friendship. What qualities would you like a friend to have?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!But first our humor section thanks to my Friend Paul Bordonaro. All you parents will appreciate this one.

A first grade teacher was reading the story of Chicken Little to her class. She came to the part where Chicken Little warns the farmer that the sky is falling. The teacher then asked the class, “What do you think the farmer said?” One little girl raised her hand and said, “I think the farmer said: “Holy Sh–, a talking chicken. The teacher was unable to teach for the next ten minutes. Out of the mouth of babes huh?????

My favorite definition on friends is by Edward E. Hale, Reverend-related to the famous Nathan Hale, who was hanged by the British as a spy. Reverend Hale said, “The making of friends who are real friends is the best token we have of a mans success in life.” Another quote is, “The only way to have a friend is to be one.”- Emerson. How about, “A true friend is one soul in two bodies.”-Aristotle. Animals are such agreeable friends-they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms.” George Eliot.

When you are in trouble, you find out who your true friends are. For example: Sammy Davis Jr. was performing in Las Vegas and the manager of the hotel would not let Sammy stay there as a guest. Frank Sinatra told the manager that if Sammy could not stay then he (Frank) would not perform at the hotel. Needless to say Sammy was given a suite. Another time Burt Reynolds who was the leading box office attraction for five straight years found himself bankrupt. All his friends turned their backs on him, but Frank Sinatra who did not know Burt that well stepped up to the plate and bailed out Burt.

Yes you find out who your friends are in time of trouble. For example when tragedy strikes a friend, i.e., a loved one dies, my statement has always been, “I will be at your house tomorrow to help in whatever you need done.” Not, “if you need me call me.”

What qualities does a true friend have? He or she is always ready to give comfort by being a good listener and not criticize. He or she is ready to drive you wherever you need to go if your car breaks down. He or she is always ready to babysit as long as you do not make it a habit, as that is one way to lose a good friend. He or she will always follow up as he or she stated. He or she never keeps you waiting over 5 minutes after the time agreed to meet. With cell phones if there is a good reason to be late, he or she calls and explains the delay. You can think of many more examples.

Here is a quality I want in a friend. And if you write back and tell me who made the following statements I will send you a signed copy of my book.

“But then she comforted me, saying, “Maybe our challenge will be to care for other families who do.” For me that conversation laid the foundation that you help other people. That everyone has a struggle and that when you don’t you comfort and support those who do.”

This fantastic person also said, “But looking back, I can see that the tragedy planted a seed in me: If I ever had a chance to serve my fellow citizens, I would do so, and I would work for the ordinary, hard working people—like everyone who was a part of my ordinary, hard working world.”

In the next newsletter I will tell you who that fabulous person is, who by the way has a copy of my book. ‘Why Positive Thinkers Have the Power.” But if you can’t wait to find out who it is e-mail me for the answer.

Allow me to give you an example of a true friend. On our Board of Advisors is a fantastic lady by the name of Christine Patti, who is a Nutrition expert. Christine has a neat husband by the name of Joe, who just so happens to be CEO of one of the biggest lawn and pest control companies, (Heron Lawn and Pest), and a World Positive Thinkers club member.

One night they were over our house for a get-together. I mentioned that we had chinch bugs eating our expensive lawn and without flinching Joe said he was sending one of his trucks over in a week or two to spray at no cost to me. In exactly two weeks a truck pulled up and sprayed the front and back.

Joe started his company on a shoe string about seven years ago and has grown to number 77 in the nation out of around 25000. That is another quality in a true friend, as Joe Patti is a man of his word. No wonder his company grew so fast.

I could give you many more stories of true friends to me like Jodie Lynn, Roxanne Batson, Stacey Kannenberg, Shirley Cheng, Gene Roser, Thelma Gray, Marnie Bass (her husband is serving in Kuwait), Bruce Skwarlo, Sal Grassano, St. & Janice McDonald, Eileen Smith, Paul Bordonaro, Lynn Maxcy, Johnny Sabol, Kandee G., and many, many, more, including my best friend, my gorgeous wife Regina.

Many thousands of these newsletters have been sent out and many of you write and thank me for my input. For those of you who do not I am not concerned, as I know you lead busy lives, and I don’t need pats on the back. I know that the majority of you get uplifted by these newsletters and that knowledge is enough for me. When I pass from this exciting world, I don’t care if my name is on a grave stone. All I want it to say is, “he came into this world to help others.”

Thanks again for being my Positive friend. For I Like me best when I am around YOU.

Positive regards,

Ken Bossone, president.
